Idaho Vandals men’s tennis player Amadike was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time, according to an April 15 announcement. This achievement ties both the school and conference records for most titles won in a single season.

The recognition highlights Amadike’s consistent performance and his significant contribution to Idaho’s tennis program. He now shares this record with Idaho alumnus Francisco Bascon, who earned four Player of the Week awards in 2021, and Kiryl Harbatsiuk from Sacramento State, who achieved the same feat in 2010.

During a recent weekend in Utah, Amadike posted three consecutive wins. He secured victory at number one doubles against Utah and followed up with a singles win over Ken Dinh. Later, he added another singles win against Weber State, helping lead Idaho to a key conference victory that secured their spot in the upcoming Big Sky Conference tournament.

With only one match remaining in both his regular season and collegiate career, Amadike reflected on his accomplishments. “It feels great to have a place in the Idaho history books, this school has done so much for me, and it feels amazing to be able to give a fraction of that back. The only way we can give more back is to bring another ring to Idaho men’s tennis,” Amadike said.

Amadike currently holds an overall record of 15-7 and is 5-1 within conference play this season while competing primarily at number one singles and alternating between first and second doubles positions. The Vandals will next face Northern Arizona on Sunday, April 19 at 11 a.m.
