Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) participated in an event in Boise, Idaho with Americans for Prosperity (AFP) during the Senate state work period to discuss the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB). The legislation aims to expand on existing Trump-era tax credits by making several provisions permanent and providing additional tax relief to middle-class Americans.

The OBBB includes measures such as eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay, introducing new tax relief options for seniors, and enhancing benefits for families. This includes a larger, permanent child tax credit, expanded child care benefits, and the first federal school choice tax credits. For businesses, the bill proposes a permanent 20 percent small business deduction and allows full expensing for factories and capital equipment.

“The One Big Beautiful Bill is significant and sweeping, and it is probably one of the most consequential pieces of legislation most of us will have worked on in our lifetimes,” Crapo said.

AFP Managing Director Kent Strang commented on the broader impact of the legislation: “The truth is, the OBBBA represents a generational opportunity to transform the American economy. From unleashing innovation and cutting red tape to delivering real relief for families and small businesses, the bill is already making a difference—and AFP is committed to making sure every American knows it.”
