Idaho’s Deuce Blenman has signed a contract with the Canadian Football League’s BC Lions, according to an April 25 announcement from the university.
Blenman’s move to the CFL marks a significant step in his football career after playing for Idaho and previously at Washington State and Cerritos College. His signing follows that of teammate Isiah, who also advanced to play football professionally.
Blenman, originally from Compton, California, redshirted his first year at Washington State in 2021 before transferring to Cerritos College. There he recorded 38 tackles, one interception, and blocked a kick. In 2023, he joined Idaho where he contributed on special teams and made 18 combined tackles over two seasons. In the 2025 season, Blenman played all twelve games for Idaho and recorded 44 tackles, eight pass breakups, and two interceptions at the Division I level.
Idaho head coach Thomas Ford said about Blenman’s progression: “Couldn’t be more proud of Deuce! He was a guy who was patient throughout his 3 seasons here and when he got a chance to be a full time starter this year he really took advantage of his opportunity. He had an outstanding pro day as well. Came in prepared and tested off the charts. Very excited to see what he does up north!”
The BC Lions are based in Vancouver near the Washington border. The team finished their previous season with an eleven-win record before losing in the playoffs to Saskatchewan for a chance at the Grey Cup championship game. Blenman will join former Idaho player Jermaine Jackson as another Vandal starting his professional career with BC.
