Grangeville Health & Rehabilitation of Cascadia received an overall score of 4 out of 5 in the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reports. This exceeds the average 3.2 rating earned by nursing homes throughout Idaho.

The facility provided care with 60 available beds, which is 17 fewer than the statewide average in Idaho during the same period. It served an average of 40.3 residents over those months.

Throughout the first quarter of 2026, Grangeville Health & Rehabilitation of Cascadia did not record any incidents resulting in fines or penalties.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate that the nation’s population of older adults continues to increase, while numbers in younger age groups decline. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, contrasted with a 1.7% drop in those under 18. Over the past century, the Nation’s older adult population has risen sharply, jumping from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 analysis found that nearly half of these older adults—about 28 million people—are likely to require long-term services and support. Furthermore, the report suggests that more than a third could need nursing home care at some point.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
