The Idaho Vandal men’s golf team will face Boise State on April 20 and 21 in the third annual Battle for Idaho at Hillcrest Country Club. The match will determine statewide bragging rights as both teams look to secure a win in this ongoing rivalry.
This event matters to both programs, with each team having claimed victory once since the dual began. The Vandals are currently ranked 134th in the Scoreboard Rankings, while Boise State holds the 123rd spot. Both squads have achieved two team wins and three top-three finishes this season.
The competition will follow a six-count-four format, featuring two rounds on Monday and one round on Tuesday. The course measures 6,810 yards with a par of 71. Idaho recently finished second at Chambers Bay, marking their third top-three finish of the season.
Boise State enters the event after announcing that Cole Rueck, last year’s Mountain West Player of the Year, has left to join PGA Tour Americas. Rueck made his professional debut at the ECP Brazil Open where he finished 55th and made his first professional cut.
For Idaho’s lineup, McCartain is set to play in the No. 1 spot with Johnson following as No. 2; additional lineup details were not provided in full. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. Pacific (8:30 a.m. Mountain) with pairings starting every nine minutes.
Idaho won the inaugural Battle for Idaho in 2024 while Boise State took home last year’s title in 2025.
