Idaho Athletics announced on May 26 a strong academic showing during the spring semester, with multiple sports programs setting record grade point averages and the department achieving a GPA of 3.49 across all teams.
This marks the 24th consecutive semester that Idaho student-athletes have earned a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher. Every program reported a team GPA of at least 3.20, according to information released by Idaho Athletics.
Volleyball led all teams with a department-best GPA of 3.78, including five student-athletes earning perfect 4.0s out of thirteen who had at least a 3.0 average. Men’s Tennis set its own program record with a team GPA of 3.82, surpassing its previous best mark of 3.74; nine members had GPAs above 3.0 and three achieved perfect scores.
Women’s Track and Field recorded the highest number of individual athletes with perfect averages for the second term this year, as twenty-six student-athletes posted GPAs of 4.0 in addition to eleven others between 3.00 and 3.99.
Football accounted for seventy-two student-athletes with at least a B average, including eighteen who posted perfect semesters at the university located in Moscow.
Overall, two hundred fifty-six Idaho student-athletes delivered GPAs above or equal to 3.0 for the spring semester while ninety-two achieved perfect scores—a continuation of what officials described as an established trend in classroom achievement.
