For the second consecutive year, the Idaho men’s track and field team has been ranked fourth in the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Coaches Poll. The women’s team is projected to finish sixth.
The men’s squad brings back several key athletes from a group that placed fifth at last season’s Big Sky indoor championship. Among the returners is the 2025 Big Sky Indoor Freshman of the Year, who won the indoor long jump title last season and was named to the All-Conference team following his performance at the conference outdoor meet in June. Another returning jumper earned a conference indoor title last spring, with Ampofo securing first place in triple jump with a mark that ranks third in program history. The Vandals have also strengthened their throws roster by adding two NCAA West Regional qualifiers from Washington State during the offseason.
On the women’s side, Idaho aims to improve upon its sixth-place result at last year’s conference indoor event. New additions include a 2025 NAIA All-American triple jumper from Lewis-Clark State, an athlete from Adams State’s national championship DMR team, and an 11-time Idaho high school champion.
Three members of Idaho’s record-setting 4x400m relay squad that finished third at last year’s Big Sky indoor meet will return this season, led by a junior from Nigeria. She reached the finals of the 60m dash at last year’s conference competition and ended her sophomore campaign by placing fourth in the 400 meters at the 2025 Big Sky Outdoor Championships.
Idaho will open its indoor season at the Spokane Showcase on January 16. The team’s home schedule begins with two meets: starting with the Lauren McCluskey Memorial at P1FCU Kibbie Dome on January 23 and 24.
