The Idaho men’s tennis team will compete against Montana State in the opening round of the Big Sky Conference Championship, according to an April 22 announcement. The match is scheduled for Thursday, April 23 at 8:00 a.m. at the Phoenix Tennis Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
This tournament marks an important opportunity for Idaho, which enters as the #5 seed after finishing its season with an overall record of 8-17 and a conference record of 3-4. Both teams have faced each other earlier this season, with Idaho narrowly losing to Montana State by a score of 3-4 on the final court.
The Vandals are led by senior Chetanna Amadike, who has been named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week four times this year. The team has dealt with injuries throughout the season but managed notable victories over Idaho State, Sacramento State, and Weber State.
Montana State comes into the tournament as the #4 seed following a recent loss against Montana. Idaho also lost its most recent match against Northern Arizona while playing with an injured roster.
The winner of Thursday’s match will advance to play Northern Arizona—the regular season champions—on Friday at 8:00 a.m. Fans can find watch links and live stats on govandals.com.
