The Idaho Vandals men’s basketball team announced on Apr. 28 the addition of forward Hudson Ward, a transfer from Western Michigan, as their fifth offseason recruit.
Ward brings experience and versatility to the team. He is a native of Leduc, Alberta and stands at 6 feet 7 inches tall. During the 2025-26 season with Western Michigan, he started six games and played in thirteen contests, averaging 4.5 points per game on 46.3 percent shooting and collecting an average of 3.4 rebounds per game. His best performance was against Buffalo in December when he scored thirteen points and made three three-pointers.
Head coach Alex Pribble said, “We often look for versatility in the recruiting process, and Hudson has a rare combination of size, skill, and athleticism. He can guard multiple positions, create a ton of different advantages on the court, and he loves the game. He had a dominant prep career in Canada, and has collegiate experience at the highest level. We believe strongly that his best basketball is ahead of him, and we can’t wait to get him out to Moscow and get to work!”
Before joining Western Michigan for one season in Kalamazoo, Ward played his freshman year at Penn State where he appeared in eight games including matchups against Ohio State and UCLA. In high school at Leduc Composite High School and Western Canada Prep Academy, Ward averaged over twenty-six points per game with nearly ten rebounds while helping his team achieve a fifty-six win record over two seasons.
Ward’s achievements include three fifty-point triple-doubles during his prep career as well as being named to the All-Canadian Games roster in 2024 where he scored fifteen points against top national players. Internationally, he represented Canada at the FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup in 2022.
Ward is now one of two Canadian additions this offseason for Idaho along with TJ Wal. Other recent recruits include Kase Wynott—named Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year—and Diego Trejo-Delgado.
