Idaho Football announced on Apr. 29 that it will hold its annual Spring Game on Friday, May 1, at 6:00 PM in the P1FCU Kibbie Dome.
The event gives fans an opportunity to see the team after a month of practices and the installation of new offensive and defensive systems under first-year coordinators Ian Shoemaker, Lee Stalker, and Joe Begnal. Head coach Thomas Ford Jr. said his team has been making progress as they adjust to these changes.
“That’s what you wanna see,” said Ford after Tuesday’s practice. “To be able to climb that ladder and get better every day. I think what you saw [Tuesday] was a culmination of that. All three phases really did a nice job.” The university encourages Vandal fans to attend the game and observe how the team has developed since last season ended in November.
The Spring Game will feature a Black vs. Gold matchup played over four quarters with running clocks except for possession changes simulating media timeouts. There will be an eight-minute halftime break, and players will stay on the field afterward for autographs.
Concessions will be available during the game but alcohol will not be sold. The VandalStore plans to give away free schedule magnets for the upcoming season, while ticket sales are set up at the ESI construction center. A postgame social is scheduled at Best Western Plus University Inn’s gold and silver rooms.
