Idaho Men’s Basketball announced on Apr. 15 the signing of TJ Wal, a standout player from Edmonton, Alberta, as the program’s first high school commit for the class of 2026.
The announcement comes after Idaho secured its first Big Sky Championship since 1990. The team is looking to strengthen its roster for the upcoming season and sees Wal as a key addition.
Wal played for Archbishop O’Leary Catholic High School in Canada, where he recorded significant achievements including a 61-point game against St. Francis Xavier. He later competed with Overtime Elite’s Jelly Fam in Atlanta, leading his team with an average of 18 points per game and ranking among the top ten scorers in the league. Wal also had a notable performance scoring 53 points against Diamond Doves.
Head Coach Alex Pribble said, “We are very excited about the addition of TJ. He is a truly gifted player, with a unique combination of skill and size that will make him very hard to guard. He’s also a tremendous young man, who is really focused on his development. He has huge potential, and we can’t wait to get him to Idaho and get to work.”
The coaching staff said they are committed to building on their recent success by preparing for another run at the Big Sky Championship in 2027.
