The Idaho Vandals announced on Apr. 22 that the team will compete at the 2026 Cougar Classic in Pullman, Washington this Friday, April 24. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, with track events starting at noon.

The event follows a weekend where the Vandals broke school records. The women’s sprint group is set for another strong showing in the 100-meter race after setting a new Idaho record last week. Senior Ashley Hollenbeck Willems and sophomore teammates will join her in both the 100- and 200-meter races, along with four other athletes. The men’s team also has several runners entered in short sprints and multiple distance events.

Idaho’s women’s relay team has performed well throughout the outdoor season and will continue their campaign at this meet. The relay squad includes Willems, Hollenbeck Willems, Marsh, and junior teammates. Both men’s and women’s teams are set to compete in the 4×400 meter relays; most of the men were part of last weekend’s record-setting performance of 3:16.49.

In field events, freshman and senior athletes will represent Idaho in shot put and hammer throw after earning recognition during previous competitions. Additional competitors will join them for javelin and discus throws on the women’s side, while junior throwers lead efforts for men’s shot put, discus, and hammer.

Jumping events feature one standout athlete who continues her successful season in women’s long jump as well as Amanda Munoz representing Idaho in triple jump.

Looking ahead, Idaho Track and Field plans to travel to Corvallis, Oregon for the Oregon State Invite on May 1-2 before heading to Tucson, Arizona for the Desert Heat Classic on May 2.
