The Idaho Vandals announced on June 1 the signing of wide receiver Markel Taylor from Sacramento City College as the latest addition to their 2026 football roster.

Taylor, a 6-foot-2 receiver originally from Sacramento, California, played the 2025 season at Sacramento City College. During his time with the Panthers, he appeared in nine games and recorded 25 receptions for 425 yards and three touchdowns. His standout performance came against Foothill College in September, where he made five catches for 94 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds of a 14-10 victory. Taylor also achieved at least 60 receiving yards in four different games during the season and returned a punt for 32 yards against Fresno.

Before college, Taylor attended Sacramento High School. There, he totaled 32 catches for 521 yards and four touchdowns over twelve varsity games. He averaged nearly 60 all-purpose yards per game during his prep career.

Taylor joins an already deep group of receivers that recently added Zack Card from Oregon State and includes several notable returners from the previous season. The team has returned to campus to begin summer workouts as preparations continue toward fall camp and the upcoming season opener against Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

The program encourages fans to follow its social media channels for further updates throughout summer workouts.
