The Idaho Vandals women’s basketball team is set to compete in the ZotGiving Classic in Irvine, California, aiming to extend their current four-game winning streak. The team will face the Colgate Raiders on Friday, Nov. 28 at 4:30 p.m., followed by a matchup against the Wichita State Shockers on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m.
There will be no television broadcast for either game. Fans can listen to the games through Varsity and the Vandal radio network with commentary from Doug Taylor.
The Vandals enter the tournament with a 5-1 record and are currently leading the Big Sky Conference in scoring, averaging over 85 points per game. Nationally, they rank 20th in scoring and ninth in total rebounds per game. Their offense has been strong this season, having made 48 three-pointers and scored at least 76 points in every game so far. In their most recent contest against CSUN, six different players reached double-digit points.
Idaho’s head coach is now in his second year and is noted as the only Brazilian head coach in Division I history.
Colgate arrives at the event with a 4-1 record under first-year head coach Shannon Bush. The Raiders average 63 points per game and play at a slower pace compared to Idaho.
Wichita State holds a 1-5 record this season but has remained competitive, with five losses coming by an average margin of seven points and one going into overtime against Western Kentucky.
Additional statistics highlight Idaho’s performance: they lead the Big Sky Conference in several categories including assist/turnover ratio (1.02), bench points per game (32.2), blocks per game (4.7), free throws per game (15.17), rebound margin (11.8), defensive rebounds per game (30.7), offensive rebounds per game (17.8), total rebounds per game (48.5), and scoring offense (85.2). ESPN’s latest bracketology lists Idaho as a projected No. 13 seed.
