Idaho Vandals women’s basketball set to face Utah State Aggies on December 12

Idaho Vandals women’s basketball will play against the Utah State Aggies on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. Pacific Time and will be available for viewing online through the Mountain West Network. Fans can also listen to the radio broadcast with Doug Taylor providing commentary.

This matchup marks the 29th meeting between Idaho and Utah State in series history. Idaho leads the series 16-12 and won last year’s contest in Moscow with a score of 71-56.

The Vandals have shown strong performance in rebounding this season, ranking fifth nationally in rebounds per game (48.5) and eighth in defensive rebounds per game (31.5). They are also among the top teams for offensive rebounds per contest (17.0 – 14th) and rebound margin (12.2 – 15th).

In scoring, Idaho averages over 82 points per game, placing them 20th nationally. The team has scored at least 82 points in eight out of eleven games this season.

Offensively, one player leads Idaho with an average of 13.8 points per game and has reached double figures in ten of eleven games so far, shooting career highs from both the field (43%) and three-point range (37.5%).

Currently leading the Big Sky Conference standings, Idaho ranks within the top 25 nationally for several categories: bench points per game (33.3 – 12th), rebound margin (12.8 – 14th), defensive rebounds per game (32.1 – fifth), offensive rebounds per game (17.1 – 13th), and total rebounds per game (49.2 – fourth).

Utah State enters with a record of 3-5 after losing its last three games, including close contests against LMU and San Diego. The Aggies are coached by Wesley Brooks, who is in his second year with a career record of 7-32.

“The Vandals have made 79 three-pointers this season, and have made a three ball in 555 consecutive games,” according to team notes.

“Debora Dos Santos recorded Idaho’s second double-double of the season against Oral Roberts, scoring 22 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in just 21.”

“In the next game against Denver,  logged her first career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.”

“Despite missing their best rebounder in Dos Santos, the Vandals still were able to outrebound Cal 42-36 in Berkeley.”

The Idaho Vandals women’s tennis team lost to Northern Arizona with a score of 6-1 on April 11. Only one singles win was recorded for Idaho during the match held in Flagstaff. The team prepares for its last regular season game against Eastern Washington.
