Isaiah Brickner, a senior guard for the Idaho Vandals men’s basketball team, has been named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week following his performances in the Big Sky-Summit Challenge. The announcement was made by the conference on Tuesday.
Brickner came off the bench to score a career-high 26 points in just 18 minutes during Idaho’s win over North Dakota at ICCU Arena. He shot 70 percent from the field, made four out of five three-point attempts, and was perfect from the free-throw line with eight successful shots. In Idaho’s next game against South Dakota State in Brookings, Brickner added 11 points to help secure a road victory.
These wins contributed to Idaho helping the Big Sky Conference achieve its first-ever series win over the Summit League.
This marks Brickner’s first weekly honor since joining Idaho. Previously, he played two seasons at Marist College where he was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team for 2022-23 and earned a spot on a conference All-Tournament team for his postseason performance.
The last time an Idaho player received this weekly award was when another Vandal shared Co-Player of the Week honors last season after averaging 29 points per game and 4.5 steals per game during non-conference play. Divant’e Moffitt was the most recent player from Idaho to win a standalone Player of the Week award in January 2023.
Idaho is scheduled to play Notre Dame on Wednesday, December 10, in South Bend. The game will tip off at 7:00 PM Eastern Time (4:00 PM Pacific Time).
