Former Idaho linebacker Isiah King signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles at the conclusion of the NFL draft on April 25. King is the first member of the Vandals’ 2025 roster to secure a professional opportunity in the National Football League.
King, who is from San Diego, began his college career at Idaho in 2021 as a defensive back. He appeared in three games that season and preserved his redshirt status. In 2022, after moving to linebacker, he recorded 19 tackles and one interception as a redshirt freshman.
In 2024, King became an important part of Idaho’s rotation, finishing with 48 tackles, including two and a half for loss, two interceptions, and one sack. As a full-time starter in 2025, he achieved career highs with 79 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, and also forced a fumble.
Head coach Thomas Ford said about King’s achievement: “I couldn’t be more excited for Isiah! He embodies what being a Vandal is all about. Watching him go through his development here has been so rewarding. Played a ton of [special teams] as a young player for me when I was the coordinator and had a phenomenal senior season here in Moscow. Everyone in the building knew he was a Sunday guy, so I’m ecstatic to see him get his chance with the Eagles!”
King joins Philadelphia’s Super Bowl LIX champion team as part of their latest draft class. The Eagles did not select another linebacker during this year’s draft held in Pittsburgh. King will reunite with former Idaho teammate Keyshawn James-Newby—who was selected by Philadelphia in the seventh round—and safety Cole Wisniewski from North Dakota State and Texas Tech.
