Idaho Men’s Basketball announced on Apr. 17 that Kase Wynott, a Lapwai native and former Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year, has signed with the Vandals and will join the team for the 2026–27 season.
The addition of Wynott follows the program’s recent Big Sky Championship run and continues its focus on recruiting top talent from within Idaho. Wynott grew up about 40 miles from Moscow and holds several state records, including nearly 3,000 career points in high school, as well as a single-game scoring record of 68 points. He was one of the nation’s leading high school scorers with averages of 36 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game.
Wynott began his college basketball career at Washington State University where he appeared in 29 games against strong West Coast competition before deciding to transfer closer to home.
“Kase is coming home! He was a recruit we really prioritized when our staff first got here, so it’s exciting to officially get him in the Vandal uniform,” said Alex Pribble on his latest signee. “We want the best players from Idaho to be in this program, and Kase is the all-time leading scorer from the state, so we’re very excited. He can really score the ball, he’s got a diverse skill set, and he’s a competitor. He’ll make an immediate impact next year.”
Wynott joins other recent recruits TJ Wal and Nolan Newman-Gomez as part of Idaho’s effort to keep top local athletes within their program as they aim for another Big Sky Championship run in 2027.
