The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs has unanimously advanced the Renewing Opportunity in the American Dream (ROAD) to Housing Act of 2025. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), a senior member of the committee, is a co-sponsor of the bill. The legislation was led by Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) and Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts).
“Homes are the foundation for economic success, family stability and community cohesiveness,” said Crapo. “Unfortunately, lack of affordable housing is routinely the number one concern I hear from Idahoans. We must reform inefficient segments of U.S. housing across all markets to make the American dream of homeownership more attainable.”
The ROAD to Housing Act aims to address affordable housing issues nationwide by expanding and preserving housing supply, improving affordability, and increasing oversight and efficiency within federal regulators and programs. The bill includes several provisions that Senator Crapo previously co-sponsored as separate bills: The Housing Supply Frameworks Act; The Rural Housing Service Reform Act; The Reducing Homelessness Through Program Reform Act; The Housing Unhoused Disabled Veterans Act; The Housing Supply Expansion Act; and The Helping More Families Save Act.
