Senator Mike Crapo has recently highlighted two significant issues related to Idaho in a series of posts on his social media account.

On December 1, 2025, Senator Crapo addressed the ongoing efforts to account for missing U.S. servicemembers from past conflicts. He stated, “Idaho welcomed home another missing hero just a few weeks ago, but 80,930 Americans–including 359 Idahoans–remain unaccounted for from past conflicts. We cannot give up on our efforts to identify and bring home every remaining missing servicemember. The Bring Our Heroes Home https://t.co/xr1uxTRnpF”.

In another post on December 3, 2025, Senator Crapo recognized World Nuclear Energy Day and acknowledged Idaho’s role in the nuclear energy sector. He wrote, “Happy World Nuclear Energy Day! Idaho is the birthplace of American nuclear energy and continues to lead the future of this vital industry through the groundbreaking research at @INL. Thank you to the scientists, engineers and innovators who develop safe, clean and reliable https://t.co/IVuUnR8x2B”.

The senator’s remarks about missing servicemembers reflect a broader national effort to recover those unaccounted for from previous wars. According to recent data, tens of thousands of Americans remain missing from conflicts such as World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War missions, and more recent operations. Idaho alone still has hundreds of individuals whose fates are unresolved.

Crapo’s mention of nuclear energy highlights Idaho National Laboratory (INL), a major center for nuclear research located in eastern Idaho. INL was established in 1949 and is recognized as a leader in advancing nuclear technology and supporting clean energy initiatives across the United States.
