Senator Mike Crapo, U.S. Senator from Idaho, has recently addressed two significant policy issues on his Twitter account. In a post dated August 5, 2025, Crapo referenced new polling data and the ongoing debate over business tax provisions. The following day, he commented on the cancellation of the Lava Ridge project, attributing the decision to federal leadership.

On August 5, 2025, Senator Crapo wrote: “New polling from @USChamber shows over 60% of voters support the OBBBA’s provisions making deductions for research and development and capital expensing permanent. We’re making sure businesses can innovate and build in America.”

The next day, August 6, he addressed energy policy developments: “Thanks to @Interior and @SecretaryBurgum’s leadership, the Lava Ridge project is dead once and for all. This harmful proposal by the previous Administration willfully neglected widespread opposition from the local community. I am glad to see @POTUS fulfilling his commitment to”.

A subsequent tweet on August 6 included only a link: “https://t.co/2jqcNQLXsQ”.

The OBBBA referenced by Crapo is a legislative proposal focused on extending or making permanent certain tax benefits for businesses engaged in research and development as well as capital investment. According to recent data from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, more than 60% of surveyed voters are in favor of these measures (source: U.S. Chamber).

The Lava Ridge project was a proposed wind energy development in Idaho that drew significant local opposition due to concerns about land use and environmental impact. The Department of the Interior’s recent decision not to advance this project marks an end to its consideration under current federal leadership.

Senator Crapo’s comments reflect ongoing debates about economic policy and renewable energy development at both state and national levels.
