The senator, who represents Idaho in the U.S. Senate, discussed advancements in nuclear energy, economic development programs, and opportunities for student engagement.
On September 24, 2025, Senator Crapo commented on Oklo’s Aurora powerhouse project at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), stating: “Oklo’s Aurora powerhouse represents a bold step toward realizing the promise of advanced nuclear energy–clean, reliable, compact and scalable. By breaking ground at @INL, Oklo is building on Idaho’s legacy as the birthplace of nuclear power and a global leader in innovation.”
Later that day, he addressed economic development efforts within the state by referencing the New Markets Tax Credit program: “The New Markets Tax Credit program has driven over $470 million of private capital investment in Idaho. In a massive win for Idaho, Republicans made this successful program permanent, a move that will spur economic development into once-overlooked rural communities.” The New Markets Tax Credit was established to incentivize private investment in low-income communities and has been credited with stimulating significant financial activity across various regions.
On September 25, 2025, Senator Crapo promoted internship opportunities available through his office: “Gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of public service by joining my team as an intern in Washington, D.C., or Idaho. My internship program is an opportunity for students to build skills and contribute to the work we do for Idahoans.
