Senator Mike Crapo posted on August 7, 2025, about legislative efforts aimed at promoting private investment in economically disadvantaged regions. In a series of tweets, he referenced the “One Big Beautiful Bill” and its impact on Opportunity Zones.
In one tweet dated August 7, 2025, Crapo stated: “This will drive private investment to low-income areas in Idaho and around the country.” On the same day, he added: “The One Big Beautiful Bill makes permanent and expands Opportunity Zones, especially focusing on spurring investment in rural areas.” He also included a link to additional information in another post: “https://t.co/bJbSgmdrdL”.
Opportunity Zones are designated census tracts created by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to encourage long-term investments in low-income urban and rural communities across the United States. The aim is to stimulate economic growth by offering tax incentives for investors who fund projects within these zones. Senator Crapo has been an advocate for policies that seek to boost economic development in his home state of Idaho as well as nationwide.
