Idaho football held its annual spring game at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome on May 1, with Team Black defeating Team Gold by a score of 21-3. The event marked the conclusion of over a month of spring competition for the Vandals.
The scrimmage featured Team Black, made up of the starting offense, facing off against the second team defense. The first quarter saw Team Black take an early lead after a long run set up an 11-yard touchdown pass. Throughout the night, Team Black’s defense limited opportunities for Team Gold and maintained control of the game.
In the second quarter, another short touchdown run extended Team Black’s advantage to two scores heading into halftime. After halftime, Team Gold managed their best drive and scored their only points with a successful 51-yard field goal. However, in the fourth quarter, Team Black added another touchdown on a pass to a junior receiver in the end zone.
Late in the contest, early enrollees and true freshmen had opportunities to play live snaps. One freshman quarterback completed two passes and ran for sixteen yards before his final attempt was broken up in the end zone as time expired.
With this scrimmage complete, Idaho football will transition from on-field activities to weight room training for the rest of the semester before summer workouts begin in June.
