The University of Idaho announced on May 12 that more than 1,800 students are eligible to graduate this spring, with over 600 Winter 2025 graduates also invited to participate in the upcoming Spring Commencement Ceremonies. The ceremonies will begin Saturday, May 16, and continue across the state through Wednesday, May 20. All events will be livestreamed at uidaho.edu/live.
This year’s graduating class includes students who have applied for seven associate degrees, 1,330 bachelor’s degrees, 337 master’s degrees, 56 doctoral degrees and 141 juris doctorates. Additionally, another group of students will receive academic and specialist certificates. According to the university’s announcement, “Our students learn by doing so that they’re prepared to hit the ground running as graduates,” University of Idaho President Scott Green said. “They’re stepping into a rapidly changing world that needs their ideas, energy and advanced skills to compete.”
The Moscow campus will host two ceremonies on Saturday at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome: one at 9:30 a.m. for several colleges including Art and Architecture; Education; Graduate Studies; Law; Letters Arts and Social Sciences; followed by a second ceremony at 2 p.m. for Agricultural and Life Sciences; Business and Economics; Engineering; Natural Resources; and Science. Clear bags are required for entry into all venues with security measures in place such as metal detectors.
Commencement events are also scheduled in Boise on Monday evening at the Boise Centre and in Idaho Falls on Wednesday evening at the Bennion Student Union. Keynote speakers include Lisa Grow in Moscow—president of IdaCorp/Idaho Power Company—Dennis L. Johnson in Boise—chair of IdaCorp/Idaho Power—and Emma Redfoot in Idaho Falls—director at Oklo.
Special honors this year include presentation of the President’s Medallion to Erik Peterson—a retired U.S Army lieutenant general—and Dr. Edmund O. Schweitzer III—a pioneer in digital power system protection—as well as an honorary doctorate awarded to Warren Bakes for his decades-long service as an educator.
Since its founding, University of Idaho has graduated more than 136,825 students with over 146,194 degrees awarded.
